CHICAGO , The Windy City Bulls have officially parted ways with Senegalese point guard Jean-Jacques Boissy, bringing a brief but symbolic chapter of his American journey to a close.
Boissy, 25, arrived in the NBA G League carrying the weight of expectations that followed him from Africa, where he had firmly established himself as one of the continent’s elite guards. His move to the United States marked a historic step, not only for his career but for African basketball as a whole
Selected fifth overall in the 2025 NBA G League International Draft by the Memphis Hustle, Boissy’s rights were quickly traded to Windy City. He entered the league with an impressive résumé:
- BAL Champion (2025): Led Libya’s Al Ahli Tripoli to their first-ever Basketball Africa League title.
- BAL MVP (2025): Became the first Senegalese player to earn the league’s Most Valuable Player award.
- AfroBasket Record Holder: Set a tournament record with 40 points in a single game during the 2025 AfroBasket.
Despite his pedigree, opportunities were scarce during the 2025–26 G League season. In a backcourt crowded with established names, including fan favorite Mac McClung, Boissy appeared in nine games, averaging 9.6 minutes, 3.1 points, and 1.1 assists per contest.
His standout moment came in late November against the Iowa Wolves, when he logged 20 minutes and delivered 12 points and five assists—offering a glimpse of the creativity and scoring touch that once lit up the Basketball Africa League.
Though his stint in Chicago has ended, Boissy’s story is far from over. A proven winner with clubs such as REG BBC, AS Douanes, and Urunani, he remains a highly regarded talent across the African basketball landscape. With his pedigree and experience, interest from top clubs in Europe and Africa is widely expected as he searches for the next chapter of his career.
