CECAFA KAGAME CUP: APR FC BOOKS SEMI-FINAL SPOT

APR FC has secured a place in the semi-finals of the 2025 CECAFA Kagame Cup, currently taking place in Tanzania, after a 1-1 draw with KMC FC in the final Group B match.

Representing Rwanda, APR FC played the match without key players Djibril Ouattara, sidelined due to illness, and Dauda Yussif Seidu, who was suspended after accumulating two yellow cards.

Despite an attacking display with early chances from Memel Raouf Dao, William Togui Mel, Hakim Kiwanuka, and Lamine Bah, APR had to wait until the 40th minute to break the deadlock. Clément Niyigena scored with a spectacular acrobatic strike after a well-delivered free-kick by Hakim Bugingo.

However, their lead was short-lived. Just four minutes later, Eric Mwijage Edison equalized for KMC FC, capitalizing on a defensive error by Yunussu Nshimiyimana.

With 7 points and a goal difference of +4, APR FC topped Group B, advancing to the semi-finals alongside KMC FC, who also finished with 7 points but a +2 goal difference—earning the best runner-up spot across all groups.

The Rwandan champions will now wait until Wednesday to find out their semi-final opponent, which will be determined from Group C, where all four teams are currently tied with two points each.

In the other Group B match, Mlandege FC defeated Bumamuru FC 3-0.

The semi-final matches are set for Friday, with KMC FC facing Singida Black Stars, the top team from Group A.
