RPL: APR FC CRUSHES RAYON SPORTS 3–0 IN LEAGUE CLASH

APR FC bounced back in style with a convincing 3–0 win over arch-rivals Rayon Sports in a Matchday 7 encounter of the Rwandan Premier League, held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Kigali’s Amahoro Stadium. The victory ended APR’s two-game winless run and marked a strong statement in their title ambitions.

From the kickoff, the military side showed intent, creating early chances. In the 5th minute, Dauda set up Hakim Kiwanuka inside the box, but Rayon’s defender Youssou Diagne cleared for a corner.

The first 20 minutes were tense, with frequent fouls and physical duels disrupting the flow of play. At the 26th minute, Ruboneka Bosco combined with Dauda, who teed up Mugisha Gilbert for a shot deflected by Serumogo Ali into another corner. From that set-piece, Ruboneka delivered a perfect cross that found Ronald Ssekiganda, whose header put APR ahead.

In the 37th minute, Ivorian striker William Togui doubled the lead, capitalizing on a rebound after Rayon goalkeeper Pavelh Ndzila failed to deal with a cross from Kiwanuka. APR went into halftime leading 2–0.

Rayon Sports made changes after the break, bringing in Ishimwe Fiston, Rushema Chris, and Tony Kitoga for Habimana Yves, Serumogo Ali, and Niyonzima Olivier ‘Seif’. However, the Blues struggled to regain momentum as the game slowed down and play remained largely in midfield.

As the fourth official added five minutes of stoppage time, APR sealed the victory in the 90+3 minute. Mamadou Sy dribbled past Ndzila and slotted home the third goal, sparking wild celebrations among the fans.

The match ended 3–0, marking APR’s second consecutive win over Rayon Sports in their last six meetings. The result lifted APR to fifth place with 11 points from five games, while Rayon remained second with 13 points—six behind leaders Police FC.
