TENNIS: JANNIK SINNER CLINCHES FIRST WIMBLEDON TITLE

London, July 13, 2025 – Italy’s Jannik Sinner, the current World No. 1 in men’s tennis, has captured his maiden Wimbledon title after defeating Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz in four sets (4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4) on Centre Court.

The historic final, held on Sunday, drew a star-studded audience including Prince William, Prince of Wales, and Princess Charlotte, who watched from the Royal Box.

This marks the first time since 2008 that the men’s singles finalists at Roland-Garros and Wimbledon were the same, with the two young stars meeting again just 35 days after Alcaraz triumphed in Paris.

Alcaraz, 22, came out strong and snatched the first set 6-4. But Sinner, known for his resilience and ice-cool temperament, roared back with aggressive baseline play and sharp serves, taking the next three sets by identical scores of 6-4.

This victory not only earns Sinner his first Wimbledon title but also breaks a five-match losing streak against Alcaraz in all competitions. At just 23, he becomes the first Italian man in history to win Wimbledon, adding this fifth career major to an already impressive tally of 20 career titles.

On the women’s side, Polish sensation Iga Świątek delivered a flawless performance, dismantling Amanda Anisimova 6-0, 6-0 to win her first Wimbledon crown in emphatic fashion.
