VOLLEYBALL: APR VC WARNS POLICE VC AS KEPLER WVC STUNS RRA

The seventh round of the national volleyball league lived up to expectations on Friday night, as APR outclassed Police VC while Kepler WVC mounted a stunning comeback to defeat RRA.

Three matches were on the day’s schedule, including a nail-biter in which REG VC edged KVC in a tight contest. Kepler WVC later delivered one of the evening’s biggest surprises, overturning an early deficit to beat RRA 3–2.

The atmosphere at Petit Stade in Remera was electric, with fans packing the arena to witness clashes between some of the league’s fiercest rivals.

One of the most anticipated encounters was APR versus Police VC — a match carrying not only competitive weight but also the intensity of a traditional rivalry. Both sides came into the game desperate for points.

The match drew the presence of high-ranking officials, including Rwanda Defence Force spokesperson Brigadier General Ronald Rwivanga and Rwanda National Police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Boniface Rutikanga, among other government leaders.

APR VC started strong, taking the first set 25–20. The second set turned into an epic battle, ending 37–35 in favor of APR. Police VC fought back to claim the third set 25–23 — their only one of the night — before APR sealed the victory with a 25–18 win in the fourth set.

Earlier in the day
Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) had taken the first two sets (25–16, 25–20) and needed just one more to close out the match. But Kepler WVC staged a remarkable comeback, leveling the game and eventually winning the decisive tiebreak (21–25, 19–25, 10–15).

This victory strengthened APR’s chances of finishing the first phase of the championship at the top of the standings.
