In the final matches of the Umurenge Kagame Cup tournament at the Kigali City level, Jabana Sector defeated Kigali Sector 2-0. In the women’s category, Kacyiru Sector thrashed Bumbogo Sector 7-0, securing the championship and receiving a trophy along with a cash prize of on million, Rwandan francs (Rwf1,000,000).
The football finals took place at Kigali Pele Stadium on Wednesday, March 26.
The guest of honor was the Vice Mayor of Kigali in charge of Economic Development and Social Welfare, Madam Urujeni Martine. In her speech, she congratulated the winners.
She said,
We thank teams and individuals who participated. Even those who did not win should not feel discouraged, as their efforts are still valuable.
She also emphasized that the journey is not over, adding,
Now we are moving to the next phase, where we will compete against other teams from different districts. We encourage you to keep the winning spirit alive and bring victory to Kigali City.
In handball competitions, each winning team received a cash prize of seven hundred thousands Rwandan francs (Rwf700,000) and sports equipment.

The national-level finals are scheduled to take place in May in Musanze District.
